Walks

Nature reserve 'Geelstervallei' (2.7 km – 5.4 km)

The Geelstervallei is located in the valley of the Molenbeek, the lifeline of the area. The name of the area refers to the rare yellow flower that occurs in the area. The long walk can sometimes be swampy, so good walking shoes are necessary.

Nature reserve 'Honegem' (9.6 km – 10 km)

A stone's throw from the lively city center of Aalst, in the border area with Erpe-Mere and Lede, lies the Honegem nature reserve, a chunk of nature where you can enjoy a varied landscape every season. The many hedges, pollard willows and rows of trees are typical of the Honegem nature reserve. Not only do they provide a beautiful landscape, they are also home to many birds and small mammals.

Nature reserve 'Kalkense Meersen' (3.5 – 7.5 – 8 – 9 – 17 – 24.5 km)

Enjoy the peace and quiet in one of the last quiet areas in East Flanders. The Kalkense Meersen nature reserve is located between the village centers of Kalken, Overmere, Uitbergen, Schellebelle and Wetteren. Walking loops lead you along the most beautiful spots in the area with a beautiful view of the diverse fauna and flora. In Schellebelle you cross the Scheldt with the foot ferry to the hamlet of Aard, where the walks start.

Nature reserve 'Heidemeersen' (4.3 km – 5.3 km)

Between the village centers of Berlare and Wichelen, a special and valuable nature reserve, the Heidemeersen, extends.

The Tour of Lede (30km) – Lede Royal (23.5km) – Unprecedented Lede (20km) – Versatile Lede (17km) – Quartet van Lede (14km) – Unseen Smetlede (10km)

The walk forms a belt around Lede, as it were. You can walk straight through Wanzele, Oordegem, Smetlede, Impe, Overimpe and Lede city. We consciously chose as many unpaved roads as possible where possible. Sturdy footwear in wet weather conditions is therefore recommended.

Slow roads walks Wetteren

  • The 4 Woods Walk (Red Route - 11 km)

This cross-border walk takes you via the Paelepelbos to the woods of the stream of the Serskampse valley, the Hospiesbos and the woods of Smetlede. An extensive forest and swamp area that is largely protected.

  • The crested newt path (Green route – 7.5 km)

A large population of protected salamanders lives in the Paelepelbos and surroundings. Almost unique in Flanders. This route is slightly shorter than the Vier Bossen Wandeling, but just as beautiful and relaxing. It also penetrates deeper into the crested newt's area. A must for nature lovers.

  • Kastermeersen walk (Blue route – 11.7 km)

You can leave at the foot of the brand new bicycle and pedestrian bridge for a trip to the Meersen. Enjoy the panoramic views, the (rare) meadow birds and the beautiful old Scheldt arms and De Kalkense Vaart, dug in 1553.

Valley of the Serskampse Brook

In the Valley of the Serskampse beek you are welcome for walking, cycling, mountain biking and horseback riding. Enjoy the differences between wet and dry nature, a colorful flower carpet and beautiful mushrooms. You might even come face to face with a zebu.

There are also many nice walks that depart directly from our house.

All hiking maps can be found in the information folder that is available on site.

Feel free to take the cards out and go with them. We do ask that you put them back after the walk.
